OEKO-TEX is an acronym for the International Association for Research and Testing in the Field of Textile and Leather Ecology, established in 1992 at the initiative of the German Hohenstein Institute and the Austrian Textile Institute. The association, based in Zurich, brings together eighteen testing and research institutes from Europe and Asia. In Poland, its legal representative is the Textile Materials Engineering Institute in Łódź.

The Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex® is a certification that confirms the safety of textile products for both humans and the environment, specifically outlining threshold values for chemicals that may be harmful to consumers. This means that not only the finished product, along with all its components such as buttons, zippers, or labels, must be free from hazardous substances, but also the semi-finished products and raw materials used to create it.
Textiles and their accessories cannot contain azo dyes, pesticides, chlorophenols, chlorobenzenes, and chlorotoluenes, phthalates, and organic tin compounds, carcinogenic and allergenic substances, extractable heavy metals, or solvent residues. Additionally, their pH must be compatible with human skin and meet the standards for colorfastness.
The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 primarily aims to separate humans from pathogenic substances. This mainly concerns skin contact, but also saliva in the case of children’s toys, as well as fragrance substances.
The certification criteria are stricter the greater the degree of chemical contact with the skin. For this reason, products are divided into four classes:
The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is one of the most recognizable, if not the most recognized, quality marks worldwide. It undoubtedly simplifies the purchasing process for customers looking for safe and high-quality clothing.
Over ten thousand manufacturers from one hundred countries, including LPP Printable, hold a certificate issued by the Textile Institute based on the research report NC-9046/63/2020. This is an Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class I certificate for products for adults and children, made from white and dyed fabrics, cotton, and polyester that meet human-ecological requirements.
